A group of MPs are calling for a ban on ticket touts at certain sporting events.

The tout ban would include key events like Wimbledon where tickets for the final reached prices as high as £6,000 a pair.

Currently it is only illegal to resell tickets for professional football matches.

Although ticket touts can often be rip off prices, UK Herd wonders whether there are legitimate situations where people need to resell tickets because they cannot attend an event? Any future law would have to target people who buy in bulk for the specific reason of making a profit, rather than innocent people who simply can’t make an event due to unforeseen circumstances.
